我如何用我在国外修的课程来完成通识教育学分?

You can fulfill general 教育 credits through studying abroad regardless of your class standing. This page explains the process for receiving general 教育 credit based on your program.

The 通识教育 全球的视角 requirement is *AUTOMATICALLY FULFILLED* by taking 任何 3-credit course abroad.

You will need to secure a general course equivalency in order for GVSU to transfer your course and assign Global Perspectives credit. 看到我们的 课程审批程序 页获取有关如何做到这一点的更多信息.

When you complete your program and the credit is entered into Banner for the courses you took abroad, Records will assign the 全球的视角 credit to one of the courses that you completed.

Students can fulfill any of the following 基金会 通识教育 courses abroad:

  • 艺术

  • 社会与行为科学

Students may not earn credit for both a 基金会 requirement and an 问题要求 for the same course.

  1. Review list of courses available at host institution to identify courses you could take in the 基金会 categories you would like to fulfill.
  2. Review the pre-approved course list for your program to determine if the course you want to take has been pre-approved by GVSU and/or if it is already approved as a 基金会 course.
  3. Request departmental approval from the appropriate GVSU department if the course has not been pre-approved. 请注意: The GVSU academic department cannot grant general 教育 approval. 这门课 needs a departmental approval so that the 通识教育 department can grant approval. 
  4. Complete the 基金会 Approval Form to request approval from the 通识教育 Office

You do not have to be junior status to take your 问题 courses abroad! In this section you can learn more about how to satisfy your 问题要求 through your study abroad program:

It may be possible to satisfy two 问题 courses abroad depending on your program.

重要提示:

  • Courses taken abroad cannot count for both 问题 and 基金会 credit.
  • 独立学习, 独立研究, and independent readings (XXX 399 and XXX 499) courses cannot be used to satisfy 问题 credits.
  • If an 问题 course taken on-campus is cross-listed in two 纪律s, 你的第二门问题课程必须选自第三门学科.

事项审批提交流程

Only 1 reflection paper is needed to fulfill entire 通识教育 问题要求 (1 paper for both courses, 1-2页，单行距).

注意: You must submit your 问题 Form (Which includes your reflection paper) to the 通识教育 office 留学归来后60天内. 联系 通识教育 office if it is past the 60 days and you plan on still submitting the form (电子邮件保护)
